Paste Magazine, a fine magazine which I currently subscribe to, offers on their website the opportunity to subscribe or renew a subscription at a price to be named by the subscriber. This is an interesting move, obviously in light of Radiohead’s recent release of In Rainbows at a user-defined price. For Paste, however, I felt no inspiration to support an artist in their attempt to circumvent the screwed-up-beyond-belief music industry, and paid the minumum, which is one dollar.

They are a business, and this is a marketing move. They should know better. Granted, magazines make very little, if any revenue from subscriptions, and this is an excellent way to get their magazine in more households. Still, I don’t feel sorry for them.
