I am not a political person, but Arlen Specter infuriates me. His “investigation” into the Bill Belichick spygate incident is a thinly veiled attempt at getting his Philadelphia Eagles (he is a season ticketholder) the Super Bowl XXIX trophy which Donovan McNabb lost for them.

Or maybe it is an attempt to get some of the spotlight that the representatives who questioned Brian McNamee got.

Maybe he is following up on his investigation into the NFL/DirecTV antitrust deal (of which he is hardly neutral, considering that Comcast is his primary campaign donor, and Comcast’s lawyers come in a close second).

Either way, this is the sort of gross abuse of taxpayer money and power that needs to end in America. I am not very political, and not very passionate about the government, but I am fired up about this. I am including some source articles here, here, and here, and have even gone so far as to create a Facebook group about it.

How is the rest of the world expected to take us seriously when our lawmakers spend their time probing internal rules of SPORTING ORGANIZATIONS? Despite his bias, the NFL/DirecTV merger had some legitimate complications that needed to be investigated. But the Spygate incident? NFL commish Roger Goodell took action, set records with his fines, and destroyed the tapes. Done.

When will this end? When the Senate calls a special session to review a called third strike?
